Dating New Years Resolutions

Do you have any dating-related New Years resolutions this year? I’ve solicited singles, couples and experts for their views and ideas, creating two New Years resolution lists that I think will be helpful to a lot of readers:

A couple of the suggestions – such as 39-year-old Megan Reese’s of creating a ‘Man Plan’ for her dating life – are extensive yet focused, while others are simple shifts in one’s worldview to improve either the relationships we are attracting, or those we already have. And then there is a whole other level of New Years resolution, and I’ve found one that is so above and beyond the norm (but fascinating!) that it deserved more than just a quick quip in an article.

The first comes from best selling authors and challenge creators Pastor Kerry Shook and his wife Chris. Their book, One Month to Live, suggest that those wanting a dramatic shift in their lives just need to think about what they’d do if they only had thirty days left. From one of their press releases:

“Arguably, resolutions fail because there’s no sense of urgency. With a whole year ahead to reach the goal, it’s easy to relegate it to the back burner or forget about it altogether. Indeed, in one study nearly 40 percent of respondents cite having too many other things to do as the reason for breaking their resolutions. But what if instead of just making resolutions you acted as if you had only 30 days to live and to really make a difference in your life?”

What about you? Have you ever gone to extreme lengths to find a date? Would you? Have you resolved to improve about your dating life or relationship for 2011?

If boy doesn’t like a girl, will he say that she is very important to him?

I have such situation, my boy disappear for some time, don’t write or don’t call, and I begin to think that he already doesn’t need me…
But then he appear and say that he was very busy and I am very important fro him and I am always in his mind etc. For what he do it?

Does he want sex or not?

I started getting friendly with a guy at school and we decided we were gonna be friends with benefits. He came over to my house and we messed around a bit, then made plans for him to come over again the next day, but he woke up late and never showed up. I didn’t hear from him for the rest of the night or the day after (which is today.) So I’m confused. Did he change his mind? Am I being too desperate by trying to get him over here when he’s acting all nonchalant about it? Or am I overreacting?

If boy doesn’t like a girl, will he say that she is very important to him?

Okay so there is this cute guy in my class who is very quite and shy. He has a lot of friends so he isn’t like creepy. I catch him staring at me a lot, does it mean he likes me or what? Help!

Not asking any questions, just saying thanks :)

I think many of us found this website when we were feeling helpless, when we needed advice from people we don’t even know. Sometimes others can enlighten you, without even knowing you. I found this site after a nasty break up, and I’ve posted when no one else I know personally could really get through to me. You can say whatever you please, no one knows you. And you get amazing people to read your story, and they help. My last situation I posted just a few days ago was one I couldn’t seem to wrap my brain around, and many people (such sweethearts) took the time and gave me their wonderful opinions. They were so correct, and so kind. Brought tears to my eyes this morning. So really I want to say thanks, thank you to the people who created this site to help us at the worst of times, and thank you to its users (us) who love to help people who need it XOXO :)

A good female friend of mine suddenly ignoring me?

I met this girl a few months ago in a club and for 2 – 3 months we were very close. We talked all the time using IM and over the phone. She would often text me early in the morning saying she missed me and I would often do the same. a couple weeks back I asked he if she wanted to be more then friends and she said she did and we planned to meet up again in the near future. The next day I didn’t hear a word from her the entire day, so at night I gave her a call and she didn’t answer soon after she texted me saying she was too tired to talk so I said I would call her the next day instead. Once again no answer and this time she didn’t even text back or return my call. so I left her for two days hoping she would send me a message but she didn’t. I IM’d her asking if something was up and she snapped at me, 2 days later (the day before we were due to meet she texted me saying she didn’t want to meet up any more when I asked her why she didn’t reply. I continued trying to talk to he but to no avail she never picked up her phone or replied to my texts and I fear she has blocked my IM account.

I don’t know if I moved to fast and I know I didn’t say anything to hurt her. it just bothers me that she just stopped talking to me without a reason. I would like to know what I could do to get her wanting to talk to me again because I am really stumped. I know I’m not that great when it comes to girls but we really clicked and I enjoyed talking to her. I would just like to return to what we had and I need some guidance on how to do that.

Thanks for your time

O
