Long Distance Relationship Advice

so I text this guy a lot recently. he is my best friends really good guy friend but he lives in another town so I only met him once. He just recently told me that he liked my friend and my friend doesn’t like him back. we text a lot and love playing the game 20 questions. so the other day I asked what is the most awkward question that I would ask you? and he said , “if WE would ever have a chance together” and then I go yeah because I know your answer would be no. and he goes.. well maybe I don’t know I don’t want things to be awkward. I don’t know if he sees that I am willing to flirt with him and stuff he just doesn’t do the same.
